The Art Institute of Salt Lake City


The Art Institute of Salt Lake City – is one of The Art Institutes, a system of more than 40 educational institutions located throughout North America, providing education in design, media arts, fashion and culinary arts.

Established in 2007, The Art Institute of Salt Lake City is a branch of The Art Institute of Las Vegas and is owned by Education Management Corporation, which is headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Palmer DePaulis, the director of Utah’s Department of Community and Culture told the Deseret News in January 2008 that the opening of The Art Institute of Salt Lake City was “historic for Utah”.

The Art Institute of Salt Lake City is located at 121 West Election Road in Draper, Utah, near the Wasatch Mountains at the south end of the Salt Lake Valley, and is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT).

The Art Institute of Salt Lake City is a member of the Draper Area Chamber of Commerce.

Culinary art is the art of cooking. The word "culinary" is defined as something related to, or connected with, cooking or kitchens. A culinarian is a person working in the culinary arts. A culinarian working in restaurants is commonly known as a cook or a chef. Culinary artists are responsible for skillfully preparing meals that are as pleasing to the palate as to the eye. Increasingly they are required to have knowledge of the science of food and an understanding of diet and nutrition. They work primarily in restaurants, fast food franchises, delicatessens, hospitals and other institutions and corporations. Kitchen conditions vary depending on the type of business, restaurant, nursing home etc.
